Welcome to the Fall 04 issue of Marginal Librarian, featuring more thoughts and adventures about libraries or library school students!
Together with the intros to Music librarianship and the Law library, we have students' comments on the GSLIS orientation 2004 and the first seminar of the MLISSA speaker series.
If it is too academic to your taste, we have something more personal - an inner dialogue with "Soul Mountain", some thoughts on being a mature student and the issue on effective communication.

My Graduate School Orientation I remember looking at the agenda this past summer for my upcoming orientation for graduate school, I had flashbacks from my first orientation from my undergrad years...	MLISSA speaker series: Children as designers of web portal architecture Thus it came to be that, in my need for some librarian-like enlightenment, I found myself sitting in the dreaded MS42 classroom at noon on the 21 October, waiting with baited breath for the first lecture in the MLISSA Speaker Series to begin..	A Brief Introduction to Nahum Gelber Law Library Opened in 1998, the library has provided McGill law students with a wonderful study environment with its world-class facilities and collections... Um, like, clear, uh, communication? I can’t keep quiet about this anymore...
What I did on my Summer Vacation... Call it crazy, but I took a class! A seminar in music librarianship to be exact, and it was great. Having heard that this course had not been offered in 10 years I jumped at the chance to take it...	Where bibliography & turntables meet Anyway, I thought, hey! Why couldn’t I do this with words? Why not take samples—not quotes—samples, from literature and weave them together to form something new, a conversation between writers who have likely never been in the same room, or who maybe haven’t even read each others’ work? I could be one of those writers, I could question and mediate. I could spin new tales out of old ones in a new way...	Being a student, again! “How does it feel to be a student again … after so many years of absence?” In the past few months, I was frequently asked that question by friends and relatives...
